From a young age, Mary’s goal in life was to become a Doctor. Watching her parents trying to navigate modern medicine inspired her to follow a different path by becoming a board certified Acupuncture Physician. Her path to this goal was not a direct or easy one, proving it’s not always about the destination, but the journey as well.
In 2012 Mary truly began her journey into healing practices, attending school for skin care. Having experienced the pain and stigma of cystic acne in her teens, she wanted to help others feel good about themselves through skin care. Even in school, her touch brought comfort and relief to many of her clients, beyond the facial results. With dozens of inquiries regarding massage, Mary also became a licensed massage therapist. She quickly decided that pain management was that path she wished to follow by completing a Medical Massage Practitioner course.
Her practice quickly grew, but in her mind, she never forgot her desire to become a Doctor. Having been reintroduced to the healing modalities of Chinese medicine, Mary decided to attend school once more to become an Acupuncture Physician.
Initially she thought that starting this program later in life would be a disadvantage, after all it’s not easy to go back to college in your 40s! However her skills and knowledge as a massage therapist and her heightened sense of touch proved to be beneficial.
Mary strongly believes we need more care in healthcare, more treating the whole person than treating an array of symptoms. Eastern medicine looks at the whole body and treats each person as an individual. Dr. Mary will work with you, using Acupuncture, herbs, and other modalities to improve your quality of life.
